| In 1987 there were 20,193 Grand Nationals produced and sold. There were only 1,035 of the Turbo T Limited produced. Turbo T Limited is a turbo Regal with many more appearance options. For a power plant, the T came standard with the LC2, just like any other Grand National. This is still a point of confusion today with many car enthusiasts. The Turbo T Regals were identical to the Grand National in terms of the drive train and were every bit the muscle car the Grand National was known to be. The LC2 package included a 3.8 SFI turbocharger V6 engine which was mated to a specially prepared TH2004R transmission (this trasmission had a special BRF valve body). Horsepower was modestly rated at 245 hp with torque checking in at 345 ft/lbs. However, real world tests have put this figure closer to 275 hp. Horsepower was modestly rated by GM for the simple fact that upper managment wanted no other car to have a higher rating than America's favorite sports car, the Corvette. Even so, the Turbo Regals outperformed every production car made in America in the year 1987, earning it the title of the fastest production car in the US. This car was faster than the Grand National due to the aluminum wheels and factory aluminum bumber braces. Imagine a luxury cruiser that can seat five people comfortably, blowing the doors off other "muscle" cars of the time.
This 1987 Buick Regal Turbo has the rare Limited Package with 93 options listed on the label attached to the underside of the trunk lid -- from all the research I have found, this could be the most optioned out turbo ever built. Most of the cars had around 65-70 options and the closest I have ever found only had 88 options. With only 77,xxx original miles, the car looks like new. The car is in great condition and has been well cared for. Everything looks to be original, from the turbo to the exhaust. It has brand new paint from the pin stripe up with a perfect color match that looks better than the original. It has all original Turbo Limited badges which includes the 3.8 SFI Turbo badges on the hood and rear deck lid, "T" badges on the front quarters, front air grabber, and cornering lamps. Check out the beautiful limited package interior and luxury gray pillow-top velour with split bench seat, headrests, fold down arm rests, and deluxe carpeting. There is an electric sunroof, power steering, brakes, locks, power antenna, cruise control, R134 air-conditioning, digital dash, rear defroster, and dual side mirrors. The stereo is awesome with surround concert sound. The engine compartment is nicely detailed. This car has Buick rally wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A, raised white lettered tires. It has factory posi-traction and dual exhaust. |
